About the Role

Our client is a WA State government organisation based in East Perth. They are currently looking for an experienced Budget Analyst to come in and work with them on a 6 month temp contract with possible extensions.

Candidates for this role must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
  • Strong experience in budget and financial analytics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and skills in Flow Charting
  • Previous public sector experience (Desirable)

Key responsibilities:

  • Budget Development & Systems Management Facilitate the end-to-end budget development process, ensuring data integrity within SIMS and supporting the creation of long-term financial programs.
  • Financial Analysis & Funding Recommendations Analyse internal Budget Centre allocations and evaluate additional funding requests to provide strategic, data-driven recommendations.
  • Performance Monitoring & Forecasting Perform deep-dive reconciliations of works programs by comparing Budget vs. Actual vs. Forecast, utilising extrapolated actuals to identify trends and variances.
  • Treasury Compliance & Alignment Maintain rigorous accuracy in reconciling internal budgeting systems with State Treasury approvals to ensure financial compliance and reporting efficiency.
  • Program Reporting & Support Support the preparation and monitoring of consolidated annual and out-year programs, delivering comprehensive reporting to track organisational milestones.

About You

You will be an experienced Budget Analyst with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
  • Strong experience in budget and financial analytics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and skills in Flow Charting
  • Previous public sector experience (Desirable)
